Former NBA centre Enes Kanter Freedom was ejected from an Indiana Fever-Chicago Sky game at Wintrust Arena after a confrontation with Sky guard Natasha Cloud late in the third quarter. The incident followed a Chicago basket with 1:22 remaining in the quarter. After Cloud scored and exchanged a chest bump with teammate Aicha Coulibaly, she turned toward Freedom, approaching while shouting and pointing. Fever guard Sophie Cunningham had said in an ESPN profile the previous month that she opposed transgender girls and women competing in female sport. Freedom and former NBA player Royce White had separately declared themselves eligible for the WNBA draft while saying they identified as women. Before the game, Freedom joined a small rally outside the arena supporting Cunningham.
