At least six people were killed and several others injured when a container truck and an auto-rickshaw collided head-on in Latehar district in India's Jharkhand state, police and local reporting said.
The crash occurred in the Dedtangwa valley on the Chandwa-Chapi-Lohardaga road, within the jurisdiction of Chandwa police station. A group from Sasang village was travelling toward Lohardaga in the auto-rickshaw when it met the oncoming truck.
Officials said the force of the collision left the smaller vehicle crushed beneath the container truck. About six occupants died at the scene, while other passengers sustained injuries. The dead were believed to be members of the same family, although the initial report did not publish their names or provide a final identification.
